Champ

Champ is a plesiosaurid lake monster dwelling in Vermont's Lake Champlain. It is similar to the Loch Ness Monster in most respects, though in some depictions Champ has a horselike head. Champ also has a reputation for being a bit more violent that Nessie. In some local legends it has a hand in the mysterious sinking of the ferry Ethan Allen. However, there is no evidence for this. Some sonar tapes from the lake include rapid and mysterious clicking noises, perhaps echolocation from the monster. This indicates that Champ may in fact be a freshwater dolphin of some sort, though none of the 300+ sightings support this. More likely, Champ is indeed another plesiosaurid, perhaps with an echolocating organ in the throat.
