In Norse Mythology, the realm of Hel is gaurded by a fearsome monster called Garm. Garm is the original hellhound, a huge, shaggy monster of a dog kept at bay by a massive chain around his neck. Garm is incredibly ferocious, and posesses huge fangs and terrifying eyes that are either blood-red or a hypnotic grey. Garm is destined to watch over Hel until Ragnarok, when he will break free and kill the Norse god of war, Tyr, at the cost of his own life.
