The Agogwe is an African savannah biped, about 3 to 4 feet tall. It is hairy like an ape, but has a number of differences from a normal one like a gorilla. The Agogwe has a rounded forehead and small canines, unlike most apes. Also, its rust-colored fur and yellowish-red skin distances it from most other primates. There are a number of theories about the nature of the Agogwe. Some think that it may be nothing more than a population of chimps that has adapted to the savannah to take advantage of a new niche, while others think it may be a remnant Australopithecine population. Whatever it is, the Agogwe has been sighted a number of times and is familiar to some native peoples. Though there is no evidence to support this, they say it is mischevious rather than vicious-- much like a chimpanzee. A similar cryptid, the Orang Pendek, is found in Sumatra, and it is described as having a mane as well as fur. This animal, like the Agogwe, is said to have a divergant big toe.
